Resolutely Safeguarding the Legal Rights and Interests of Employees

Justice Will Not Be Denied

On May 23, 2023, upon receiving the final judgment from the Beijing Second Intermediate People's Court, Huang Qian (pseudonym, HR Director of Jiaxuan Logistics and head of Jiaxuan Union employee relations) and Zhang Wei (pseudonym, an employee of Jiaxuan's Beijing branch) high-fived in celebration. After a four-year legal battle, justice was finally served through the relentless persistence and efforts of both the company and the employee, effectively protecting the employee's vital interests.

A Hard-Fought Legal Journey

Narrator: Zhang Wei

“On the afternoon of September 3, 2019, I was performing my usual duties at the work site when I was suddenly struck by a forklift operated by an employee from another company. The cargo boxes on the forklift collapsed onto me. I immediately felt excruciating pain and lost sensation in parts of my body. My supervisor heard my cries, immediately arranged for emergency medical services, and accompanied me to the hospital for treatment.”

The Beijing Chaoyang Emergency Medical Center diagnosed the injuries as: an open comminuted fracture of the right tibia and fibula, a ruptured ligament in the left knee, closed chest trauma, multiple rib fractures, pleural effusion, and a head laceration.

“Due to the severity of my injuries, I underwent a total of three surgeries after admission. During this time, the company advanced all my medical expenses, which was a lifeline for me given my modest financial situation. Company leaders and colleagues visited me frequently to encourage me, telling me not to worry about the medical bills and reassuring my family.”

“Their warm encouragement gave me great confidence and kept my spirits high during the months of recovery that followed. To a certain extent, this accelerated my healing process.”

Narrator: Huang Qian

“When I learned that a Jiaxuan employee had suffered a serious work-related injury, the company leadership and I rushed to Beijing immediately. Seeing our employee lying in a hospital bed, we felt deeply saddened.”

“After returning to Shanghai, I continued to monitor Zhang Wei's recovery and the subsequent legal matters. I was deeply troubled to learn that the responsible company had refused to take a stand on the accident and repeatedly shirked their responsibility. After discussing it with Zhang Wei and respecting his wishes, I immediately consulted with company leadership and decided that the company would step in to fully assist the employee in defending his legal rights.”

“Initially, we approached the responsible company with a spirit of friendly negotiation, but they met us with indifference. The process was further delayed due to the pandemic, and we never received a satisfactory response. Ultimately, we had no choice but to take legal action and face them in court.”

“On behalf of the company, I secured a lawyer for the employee. During this period, I traveled to Beijing many times, working with him to re-collect and organize evidence. After going through the first and second instances, we finally received the verdict of justice. Although the process was arduous, I believe it was absolutely worth it.”

A Mutual Commitment

Currently, out of gratitude toward Jiaxuan and a strong attachment to his position, Zhang Wei expressed his desire to remain with the company. Considering the employee's personal circumstances and skill level, Jiaxuan has continued to employ Zhang Wei at the Beijing branch.
